anybody agree that spinks got completly out of his game doing that 20 minute rap ring entrance? come on if he was warmed up in the dressing room he got cold. it was too hard a fight not to be mentally 100 percent into the fight itself. even learning the choreograph must have taken time away from his training. that was idiotic.

i remember sweet alvin hayes doing a 15 minute break dance in the ring in 100 plus degree heat just before fighting jimmy paul at caesars years ago. hayes boxed great for about 5 rounds before running out of gas and being knocked out cold. these things are stupid and any manager should put his foot down.

Yea thats possible. As much as im old school on alot of things, I like when some fighters do it. Because its a way of laying it all on the line, and it adds something to the fight. I cant stand Spinks, so that dance made Judah knocking him out all the more sweeter. Its showmanship and im ok with it. His choice.
It was a decent entrance, but Prince Naseem had a few that were unreal. Roy Jones too.

Huge mistake. Judah was all business, while Cory was basking in the hoopla. I remember when Vernon Forrest did the same thing and was put to sleep. These clowns can do what they want, but to waste energy doing that seems a distraction, UNLESS, your skills are such that you can accomodate same. Cory ain't that good! I picked Judah so it worked for me. Hope he does it in the rematch.

funny you mentioned that hilo boy...this is what i wrote in another forum....and a writer friend that was at the fight concurred....

"on a side note,i was sort of amazed at that ring walk of spinks`....it took forever...was unbelievably intense for spinks and the crowd....i know this may sound a bit crazy, but, there`s only so much adrenaline to go around....and spinks didn`t look particularly quick at any time during the bout...seemed to fade,as a matter of fact... maybe he was to loose..

it seemed as though some steam went out of the place after spinks entered the ring...maybe i`m way off...i don`t think all that stuff is necessarily good...not to that extreme...it`s like the air was let out of the balloon....

tom was there....he can address that ...just a thought...it was quite a spectacle, that ring walk"...

"tom" is tom luffman....

this is what tom said....

"funny you mention that- when i saw spinks dancing along side nelly i turned to a writer from ringtalk and said "he's going to lose!"- this was after I picked Spinks to win...

the writer looked at me smugly and said "why?"

i said "you can't be that loose and fight a good fight..." he was too loose...

when spinks went down i returned the smug look and said "see mo'fo i was right..."

it`s sort of interesting that some hardcore boxing fans like ourselves thought basically the same thing.....

those things can work if you fight someone who is so over matched. like roy jones vs ricky frazier. forget hamed doing this stuff when he fought barerra even when he did it against kevin k in his first us fight it almost backfired.

Same thing happened to Apollo Creed versus Ivan Drago

Not a good idea to stage a musical or concert before a boxing match

Haha.. your right. I agree its not a good idea, but As a fan, If I dont have money on it, I kind of like it. It brings some electricity to the fight. Someone like Tyson would just walk to the ring and pace and the place would go nuts. These morons are trying to be creative. If your that good, you dont need to dance
